Many Indian small business owners write off Google Ads because they burned through a budget with nothing to show for it. In almost every case, the setup was wrong, not the channel.
Display ads attract many accidental clicks. For small budgets, Search ads targeted at high-intent keywords reliably outperform display.
Target long-tail, specific keywords. "Web design company Pondicherry" beats "web design" every time: less competition, lower cost per click, higher conversion rate. Use exact match or phrase match until you have enough data.
Set up a negative keyword list from day one. Common negatives for a web design business: free, DIY, Wix, WordPress templates, jobs, salary.
With Rs 10,000 to 15,000 per month: set a daily budget of Rs 400 to 500, target two to three tightly focused ad groups, and run Monday to Saturday, 8AM to 8PM. Review performance weekly. Pause keywords with more than 50 clicks and zero conversions. Scale what works.
